They say you never forget your first. First crush. First car. First can be transformative moments in our life. As, I was reflecting on my "makeup journey" it made me think about Mac Cosmetics. It was the first makeup brand I purchased on my own as a young adult.
Buying makeup back in the '90's was completely different than it is today. Having an actual shade range was still a foreign concept.
I remember standing in my local Macy's scanning the beauty department. That's where I laid my eyes on her: the Mac Counter. To be honest she was hard to miss. She just had this vibe that you wanted to be a part of. She was inclusive and the best music in the whole store.
I wouldn't call it love at first sight, but it was definitely love after first date. The first date being getting shade matched and knowing that the diversity and inclusivity I was seeing also extended to their shade range.
Throughout the years Mac and I have been on and off. What reason? I really couldn't tell you. If I had to take a guess, I would say the beauty market got so saturated we weren't as close as we used to be.
Late 2023, after combing through my makeup collection, I realized I didn't have any staples. You know, the products that never fail you. I suddenly found myself back at my beginning I guess you'd say. I found myself back at Mac.
This holiday season, I was graciously gifted a large selection of Mac Cosmetics. I'm so excited to be reviewing these products and sharing my thoughts with you.
